Kingdom, Covenants, & Canon of the Old Testament

Kingdom and Covenant in the Old Testament Adult Sunday School in Room 8 of the Christian Education Building is currently studying Dr. Richard Pratt's Kingdom and Covenant in the Old Testament. A production of ThirdMill.org.

This course taught by Pastor Neal Ganzel teaches why we should study the Old Testament. We will focus on three crucial dimensions of the Old Testament: we will see that the Old Testament is a book unified around the central theme of God's kingdom; that this kingdom was administered historically through covenants God made with his people; and that through the Old Testament canon these covenants were applied to the specific needs of God's people at particular times and places. We will see that the distance dividing the Old Testament from us makes the Old Testament difficult to study; second, we will investigate the relevance we should expect the Old Testament to have for our day; and third, we will explore some ways we can learn to apply the Old Testament to our own lives in the modern world.

The goals of this course are:

◎ Investigate the importance of the Old Testament exploring the distance between the OT and our day, the relevance of the OT and application.

◎ Explore a proper understanding of the Bible's theology of the Kingdom of God by providing the most comprehensive outlook on the Old Testament.

◎ Explore how God governed his kingdom through a series of covenants that he established in Old Testament history.

◎ Explore how the Old Testament canon presents specific guidance by examining the Old Testament as mirror, window and picture.

Christian Manhood/Fatherhood

Man Praying with Scripture

Why Men Don't Pray A short study guide used in our January 2016 Saturday Morning Men's Breakfast Bible Fellowship that covers the reasons WHY men don't pray, what JESUS says on Prayer, and thirteen reasons why men should PRAY!

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men— the testimony given in its proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle— I am telling the truth, I am not lying— and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. NIV 1 Timothy 2:1-8
